Focus on Curriculum
September 14, 2018
Jolly Phonics This week we learned the letters a and
t. We pretend ants are crawling up our
arm for the letter a. To make the sound
of the letter t we pretend we are watching a tennis match. We know the
sounds of the letters: s, a, and t. We like to sing songs and do actions for
each sound to help us remember them.
Reading: We read the book Chicka,
Chicka, Boom, Boom. We did many
activities that centered on the story.
Sight Words:
This week we learned the sight words a and the. We worked on sight word make-a-match
activities. Please remember to bring
your sight word pouch to school every day in the front sleeve of your green
folder.
Math: We continued working with numbers 1 through 5. We also worked on sorting (same, different,
little/small, big/large). We completed
math activities using our new Ipads.
Social Studies: Our Weekly
Reader focused on being polite.
Art: We made a Chicka, Chicka,
Boom, Boom tree in which we spelled our names and
put letters on the top of the coconut tree.
