Focus
on Curriculum
September 2, 2016
Jolly Phonics:
This week we learned the letters a and t. We pretend ants are crawling up our arm for
the letter a. To make the sound of the
letter t we pretend we are watching a tennis match. We know the sounds
of the letters: s, a, and t. We like to sing songs and do actions for
each sound to help us remember them.
Reading: We read The
Kissing Hand. We did many activities
that centered on the story. We also read Chester The Brave and Chester
Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully!
Popcorn Words:
This week we worked with our first sight Word a. We also worked on Chester
The Brave activities that focused on the word a in which we had to
color according to a color code.
Math: We started our first math unit. We worked on counting 1, 2, 3, and 4 counting
1, 2,3 and 4 in different arrangements and reading and writing the numbers 1,
2, 3, and 4.
Art: We did a Chester the Raccoon project
that you can see when you come to Curriculum Night this upcoming Thursday night.
Social Studies: Our
Weekly Reader focused on our classroom community!
