Focus on Curriculum

Jolly Phonics: We have completed
all our jolly phonics sounds. Now we know the sounds of the letters and letter
combinations: s, a, t, i, p, n, c, k, e, r, h, m, d, g, o, u, l, f, b,
j, oa, oa, ie, ee, or,oo, ch, sh, ng, th, ou, qu, ue, oi, er, ar, z, w, v, y,
and z. We like to sing songs and do actions for
each sound to help us remember them.
Remember to review the sounds we have learned in the letter and sound
packet, which shows all the motions and sounds used to make each letter of the
alphabet that we have learned this year. It is for your reference so you can
practice with your children each letter and the sound of that letter.
Reading: This week we read the books The Day It
Rained Hearts and Cloudy With
a Chance of Meatballs! We also
completed many Valentine’s Day activities.
Word Family’s: We
worked on the ad word family this week.
First we started with the word ending ad and then we add
different letters to the beginning of the word ending ad to make new
words. For example, for the ad word
family we formed the words (mad, dad, lad, bad, etc.)
Popcorn Words:
This week we cut out the popcorn words will, have, and must
and put our words in our popcorn word bags.
We are going to keep our popcorn word bags in the front sleeve of our
green folder so we can practice our words at school and at home. Please practice the popcorn words
with your child at home.
Math: We continued counting to 100 by ones and tens. We did Valentine’s Day math all week
long. Our centers have a Valentine’s Day
theme.
Writing:
We
wrote about our families more specifically one or two people in our families. Each day we write the students are becoming
more confident in their writing skills and are more eager to share their
experiences, thoughts and ideas.
Art: In class we made a Valentine project that the students are
bringing home today to share with their families. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack
for their Valentine project.

to earn money for our school!
