Focus on Curriculum
September 22, 2017
Jolly Phonics: This week we learned the sound of the
letters e and h. For the letter e we
pretend we are breaking eggs. To make
the sound of the letter h we pretend we just finished running and are out of
breath and we say h,h,h,h,h.. We know the sounds of the letters: s, a,
t, p, n, c, k, i, e, and h. We like to sing songs and do actions for
each sound to help us remember them.
Remember to review the sounds we have learned in the letter and sound
packet, which shows all the motions and sounds used to make each letter of the
alphabet that we will learn this year.
It is for your reference so you can practice with your children as we
learn each new letter and the sound of that letter.
Reading: We read Pete the
Cat Rocking in my School Shoes. We
did many activities that centered on the story.
We also read many other Pete the
Cat books.
Sight Words:
This week we added the words my
and big to our word rings. We read our very own small book titled Bedtime that focused on our new sight
word my and our very own Pete The Cat book. Please review your sight words nightly.
Handwriting: We worked on writing the letters e and h
both uppercase and lowercase.
Social Studies: Our Weekly Reader focused on apples and the
animals that eat those apples!
Math: We talked about shapes both 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional.
Art: We made a Pete the Cat project showing him
rocking in his shoes!
